Some stuff

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Scentsy. I personally love it. I've loved it since my sister got one about 4 years ago, so I decided to get one... then I got two... and one thing led to another and I had a love affair with Scentsy and now I'm selling it!

I especially loved it because during my college days they implemented a 'no flame' policy, which included candles. For any of you who have lived in a dorm, or lived anywhere really, you know that home fragrance is not just something nice to make your home more homey, but often a necessity. Mmm... my college apartment smelled wonderful, it even covered up the nasty week old garbage smell, and the best part was I wasn't breaking any flame policies. Anyways, I love it. I'm Scentsy's biggest fan, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and try to make some money with it!

Today my starter kit came in the mail! My house is confused because of course, I had to open and smell all 80 scent samples and now I have a concoction of scents brewing. I'm excited to share my favorite home accessory with my friends. It should be loads of fun!

For anyone interested in ordering or just investigating you can check out my site www.kelseyfairbanks.scentsy.ca. For anyone who may be hesitant because you don't live near me, have no fear. You can still order and if you live in Canada you pay the Canadian price and if you are in the US then you pay the US price, respectively.

In other news, I am finally getting my hair cut this weekend. I'm thinking bangs like Rory Gilmore in season 7... what do you think?
Probably not that dark though... I may just stay the natural color that I am. It's the only color that really looks good 90% of the time. What do you think?

Also Maddie... I can't view your blog. Can I have an invite? My email is kfbanks[at]gmail[dot]com.

Can I just tell you?

How grateful I am for my husband.
Lately I have been one heck of an emotional roller coaster (thank you father, for contributing the chromosome that made me a girl). Warren has really stepped it up a notch. Normally I don't brag about him too often because he's 25 going on 11 and there isn't much to brag about unless it were a "my husband can beat your husband at Nintendo" argument, but today he deserves some recognition. Amidst my emotional turmoil, I had a small bout of some self worth. Or lack thereof. As I kind of whined about previously, I haven't felt much like a super star. I recently turned 23 and have NOTHING accomplished in life that I had planned on accomplishing. Warren told me several times and in several different ways, how important I am and that I made a huge sacrifice that most people with my same level of independence wouldn't make, and that this is all part of a greater plan. He reminded me that all my young women adore me, which is no small compliment considering I am the newest addition, and the youngest (and the shortest...). He reminded me that I've come a long way from my college days of not knowing how to cook Rice-A-Roni. He also rambled off all the things that he admires about me (some may or may not have been a variety of my facial expressions). It was beyond adorable and exactly what I needed to hear. He's not exactly one for serious conversations or for being the type of friend I need when I'm at my lowest, but he really came through this time. He told me how I am going to be such a great mom because I have this running list of all the things my kids aren't going to do, like run around in just diapers everyday. This comment especially hit home since I'm super homesick, and because some involuntary life form that wants children is ripping through my body and taking over like some sort of alien monster. It was just good to hear coming from the future father.

I was also reminded of how awesome Warren is one night when I was talking with my good friend Tressa (who by the way, is way ahead of me in the baby making department and is now on her third ). We were talking about some of our other friends who do weird things that really make you wonder how on earth they've made this far in life and why their children haven't been taken away yet, and how thankful we were that we married smart and intelligent people. You can call it gossiping all you want, I wont deny it, but it just made me grateful to have Warren around knowing he's smart with his money and is respectful and responsible, and isn't naive and sheltered. Plus, you should see him around kids and his scouts...it makes me smile (that was the alien monster talking). So thanks Warren for being awesome and wonderful and for adhering to my emotional neediness and not judging me when all I want for dinner is chocolate ice cream. All nerdyness aside, he's pretty okay. I think I'll keep him.

I love you poop face!

Just a little "blah"

I'm just going to whine a little here. It's no big deal.
First of all, I love having neighbors. I love that this guy below us turns up his music so he can clearly hear it while he's in the shower. I love that it makes our floor vibrate and the pictures on the wall shake. It's cool that's its rave music, too. Because I've always wanted to go to a rave, or better yet, have one in my house. This guy is a keeper.

Lately I've been in one of those funks you get in when the season is trying to change but sometimes it can't make up it's mind... for some reason it puts me in one of those funks. I see everyone going off on vacations and seeing palm trees and sunshine and being able to take off their jackets when they're outside... and it makes me sad. Not because I live in a frozen tundra of ice and snow, but because I miss the good ol' days when 'me roomies and I' would take spontaneous trips. One time my friends Kristi and Ryan took a random drive to Park City, Utah one night. It was literally one of the best memories I have of my college career (if you can even call my time at college a 'career'). I miss it so much that often times, it brings me to tears. Sometimes when my life seems to be full of disappointment and lack of everything awesome, I look up from my computer and see a framed wedding picture and think: "what the heck was I thinking? Getting married at 20?! Why didn't anyone stop me?" Seriously, I feel that way sometimes. Not that I hate my husband, because I don't, I just don't like this feeling of being tied down all the time. I can't go on awesome road trips with my friends, or late night dinners at IHOP... instead, my days are filled with working, cooking, cleaning and sitting on the couch watching lame movies. I feel so awesome. (not.)

Last night as Warren and I were laying in bed starring at the ceiling listening to our neighbors cool music, we were discussing the pressure there is to start having kids. We've noticed it a lot lately. I just see other people doing it, and think... well I'm not going to be useful for anything else... I was so reassured that Warren was feeling the same way. No, we aren't any where near that stage of life yet, but it was nice to know that I wasn't the only one feeling an immense amount of pressure to do something I don't feel adequate for.

Job hunting is an odd sensation. I've had a few interviews, and I actually got offered one of the part time position I applied for, only problem is that it is about 40 minutes away, and that's not during rush hour. It wasn't the place I applied to, but I interviewed anyways because it was the right thing to do, not expecting to be hired on the spot. I'm still not sure if I'm going to take it. The minute she offered me the position, I immediately felt knots in my stomach. There is no way I can make travel arrangements and get Warren to work and picked up on time if I'm this far away. We looked up the city transit route, and it would take an hour and a half via the train and 4 different bus routes. If it were a full time job and paid more, maybe... Also, I've had some interviews for some full time positions which is what I want. Well, no... I want a full time and a part time, because I've got nothing better to do and I know I'm going to have to contribute a lot when Warren goes back to school... but getting the part time job first, it a little irresponsible in my eyes because you don't know what your hours will be like, and if you are trying to fit in a full time job during the day... you might have to change your hours for your other job... and your employer will be beyond annoyed with you. Trust me, I know. Anyways, that's my rant on that.

Tomorrow I'm interviewing downtown for a law firm. It's not anything super amazing, just a reception position. Have I ever told you my fear of tall buildings? Thanks to 9-11 being broadcast live, I've had a terrible fear of tall buildings. Guess what kind of building this law firm is in... a tall one. Warren showed me this video of the buildings swaying during the earthquake in Japan last week.. big mistake buddy.

Anyways, that's why I've been feeling a little 'blah' lately. Just reminiscing through old photos from college and missing all my roommates and not feeling like I'm good at anything that matters. Sorry this post is so depressing, gah!

Hey! Look what I did!

I'm no pro, but I'm quite proud of myself so I thought I'd share this with you all. Some of them are pretty familiar because I'm still learning vector art... but you'll deal. All of the personal info has been blacked out for privacy reasons.
What do you think? Which one is your favorite?

Ulterior Motive?

Tell me what you think.
I have a friend who just happens to be a relative of my brother in law's fiance, send me a message today informing me that the bridal shower she is throwing is in May, two whole months months away. She didn't send the message to anyone else, just me. I found it kind of odd because I have a feeling that this friend wants me to contribute a significant amount, and her sending me a message way too early to let me know about it, maybe she's anticipating my kindness and assuming that me, being the kind person that I am, I will offer to help out. Which is true. I have no problem with helping out, and I of course, asked if there was anything I could do to contribute. This friend is already pretty poor and has already put a lot of money into this wedding, and I know she doesn't have the money to do much... and I kind of think she has an ulterior motive to get me to do it, or contribute a large amount and then take the credit.
Now, before you get the wrong idea, I'm more than willing to help out and even host it. I just don't appreciate being conned into things like that. I may be jumping to conclusions a little, but I'm kind of suspicious. She's already asked me to bring food and help with the invites...

Do you think I'm justified in being cautious? Or am I being a little ridiculous? You can be honest... I feel a little ridiculous, but I'd love to be asked to be the one throwing it because I think I'm really good at that kind of stuff, and I'd rather be the host than the one who puts in all the effort for someone else. Anyways, please give me your input.

Evan coming home, Luchador masks, and a birthday

A few weeks ago (has it been that long already?) we traveled to Denver for Evan's, Warren's bro, return from his mission in Mexico. I can't believe he's back already, it doesn't seem like enough happened for it to really be two years later. Anyways, Evan is quite the handsome fella if I do say so myself (it's okay, everyone has come to terms with this, including Warren). Here he is when we said goodbye at the MTC.
"One of these things is not like the others... not like the others not like the others"... haha! Believe it or not, I was wearing heels.
Whitney and my MIL made a super cute sign for us to hold up for him at the airport... they did a fantastic job!
We drove to the airport and waited. Waited, and waited and waited for him to finally come up the escalator.
I must have been standing in some sort of sink hole. Or something.
When you land in Denver, you have to ride an underground train and take these escalators up to the waiting area and the baggage claim. So swarms of people would all get off together and come up the stairs at the same time. It's quite the anxiety attack when you are searching through a bunch of people, and your sheer excitement has your adrenaline rushing so fast. We got a little bored, and thus I have a bunch of random pictures. Thank you Graham.
Warren and his papa... look how much they look alike!
And look how long my hair is getting! Can you tell I haven't had it colored in 6 inches?
Alas, I was the first to spot him! I guess short people have better eyesight or something. I kid.
Aww look how grow'd up he looks! Also note the creepy red head behind him with some demon stare, starring directly at my camera. Thank you lady. I feel like I should submit this to the Ellen Show for the "what's wrong with these photos?" segment. Just for that...
That's what you get for starring into other people's cameras ya dumb lady. Baha! I {heart} photoshop.
Moving on.
Here are some more pictures I snagged.
So, Evan is home now. All safe and sound. He brought some cool mementos from Mexico. Ever seen Nacho Libre? Well wrestling is a big deal there, so he brought some Luchador masks home... and of course, Warren and Graham had to try them on and test them out.
Nerds. We also celebrated my birthday! They surprised me with a super yummy fruit pie... it was delish. I've tried to replicate it since, but nothing has really worked out. I must never give up though. I also took some pictures from around Denver... it's soooo pretty!
And, I'm basically in love with this next photo. And yes, I did it take myself! 'Applause, applause...'
I couldn't resist this... of all the things you'd expect to see...
We also took some family photo's. They turned out amazing! Here are some of my favorites! I promise this post is coming to an end shortly... I'm surprised you've lasted this long.
This is the only cute one of Warren and I. The others are... meh, not as cute. I mean the pictures are nice, but we just don't look good in them. Here are some funny ones... never a dull moment, I'll tell ya. Keep thinking to yourself... "what's wrong with these photos?"...
And finally, this is one of my birthday presents from Warren. Something I had been wanting for a long time.
The end! Now, go comment. :)

Things that make me annoyed!

Geez where to begin.
First things first, in case you notice a different email address associated with this blogger account, it's correct. My old aggiemail.usu.edu email is still in use, but no longer associated with my blogger account. This change was against my will. Aggiemail apparently made some changes and told me that my blogger would carry over. Nay. Not so. The Help Desk at USU has yet to get back to me about all this- so I just went ahead and made a new gmail account and linked my blog to it. So far, I haven't had any problems reading the private blogs that have my aggiemail email as the email to send the invite to. Hopefully it stays that way. I had been thinking about getting a new email account for a while now (like since the day my name changed from Thompson to Fairbanks) but because I loved my aggiemail account, and had everything registered to that email, I never changed it. Changing your email address is like... like, something that is really tedious and obligatory. Maybe, getting a tooth pulled, or getting a colonoscopy.
Here are the reason why changing my email is a huge pain in my rear:
1. my entire life surrounds around that email address- although it's still in use, it seems a little ridiculous to have three working emails. Two makes sense, you have to have a back up or a junk email account... but three?
2. this wouldn't be such a big deal if I weren't avidly looking for a job, using that email on all my applications, resumes, and the email in which I've sent 30+ resumes and inquires from.
3. when you go to change your email address or sign up for a new one... you usually get this statement in bright red : sorry that username is unavailable. How annoying. Someone out there in the world has my exact same name through the exact same email carrier. I guess if you had a super common name you'd be used to it, but since my name is rather uncommon, I'm bugged.
4. do you know how many websites I have to go to and switch my email address through? Do you know how many government documents are sent to my email directly? This is not including all the contacts from fellow people I associate with... no no... this everything else in the entire world!!

Moving on.
I'm a bit annoyed when people treat me like a child. I don't appreciate you throwing the word 'sweety' in when you're trying to talk to me or explain something to me. I'm 23 years old. This also goes for my step mom who seems to think she's my mom, and tries to shelter me. I wasn't born yesterday, I know what sex is. Please stop trying to explain it to me. I like her, but sometimes I just want to snap. I guess I kind of just did, didn't I?

One last thing I'm annoyed with.
Lately I have been needing to talk with my best friend, and because we can generally only communicate through Facebook, sometimes we aren't ever online at the same time, or have to send messages back and forth and details get skipped over, or we are just so busy we don't check it often enough. I never can seem to catch her and when I do, my email decides to die (the above story) and I'm in the middle of a panic attack. I don't have many friends here in Canada, and often I can't just call them up when I just need to talk, although they've offered that I can, in fact do that, I know that, really, I would be more of a hindrance. I'm so much younger than most of my friends here, I sometimes feel kind of left out. Most of them have kids, and, not that I don't mind children but once you have kids, the dynamics change. It's like you enter into a different realm of adulthood when you squeeze a living creature out of your uterus. No matter how much you try to deny it, there is a huge gap between married with children and married with no children. I'm annoyed that I can't bridge that gap sometimes. I definitely know some people who are awful parents, and their parenting skills are about as good as mine are right now, and even then I can't seem to connect on the same level. I guess it's just annoying that I can't have my best friend here with me.

Sorry it got a little personal, but that's what blogs are for. Blogs are like the best friend who never asks for anything, but just provides a void for you to put all your feelings into.

My next post will probably feature some, if not all of our trip to Denver. Like Evan coming home from his mish, Nacho Libre masks, my birthday, and some other stuff like that. Happy Hump Day!
