We finally got our family pictures back! A big shout out to Sunny our amazing photographer, who had to put up with all of us! It was a windy day, so excuse the wind blown hair... also, can I just say for the record, those shirts were unflattering for everyone! We really aren't as fat as we look... :) hahaha but they still turned out amazing!! There's a lot, folks!

Thanks for looking! Feel free to comment now!

Since when did I become 'that person'

I sometimes get annoyed with people post a butt load of videos on their blog. You know the ones... the ones who can't ever think about anything interesting and therefor don't really have any reason for a blog other than to post videos. Most of those videos are lame anyways. I'm not suggesting that I am a video hater, don't get me wrong. I like it most of the time.
Anyways, I have two videos to share and I hope everyone listens to them. The first one is one of new favorite songs of all time. It was featured on a recent episode of Community (mmm Joel McHale... grool) and it was really moving for me. So listen to it! Ready go!

And this one I dedicate to all my friends who have ever felt un-pretty.

Enjoy!

Dude Bro

This post might offend people who don't have a sense of humor. Just sayin.

First things first, here are some details of where I work. For my own protection, the name of the company will not be named, just fyi. I work in a 4 (now 5) man/person HVAC Contracting company. I am the office administrator. The HR person is an older lady who is super sweet, the other three... the CEO/President (for protection is name will be "Bob"), the project manager (RJ) and the estimator/person who does a bunch of drawings that look like reverse blue prints (Aaron) (obviously haven't learned the term for what he does yet) are all men. If any of you have any experience in the construction business, you'll notice one thing that separates this industry from most other industries... which is their language, haha! I don't mind the flying f-bombs, in fact I think it's funny. Is that bad?
Working with a team of men is completely opposite of all my previous work experience. I certainly don't miss the drama and gossiping that a team of ovaries, ahem I mean women, bring... but it definitely has it's share of ... other things. RJ has a bunch of tatoos. He is totally hard core and I wouldn't be surprised if he owned a wide range of ATV's, boats, big trucks that would require me to need a ladder, and/or a motorcycle. He is the very definition of why ladies always fall for the bad boy. Can I say that? I totally get that cliche now. You'll see his arms all tattooed and the faint scent of cigarette smoke, but one glance at those baby blues with that killer smile and you are hooked, and totally finding yourself suddenly having the desire to ride a motorcycle. Remember that sense of humor I was talking about...don't let your imaginations run wild, people... I was just making an observation. ;) (He's married, too btw. You sickos).
Aaron is my age. Twenty three. He enjoys going clubbing, drinking protein shakes, working out, and some type of weird fighting that he trains for. He, is what we in the Fairbanks clan like to call, a Dude Bro. Here is how urban dictionary describes a dude bro:
White suburban males, usually 16-25 years of age, hailing from anywhere, USA. Characterized by their love of College football, pickup trucks/SUVs, beer, cut off khaki cargo shorts, light pink polo brand shirts (with collar "popped"), abercrombie & fitch, hollister gear, and trucker hats. Favorite bands include, but are not limited to, O.A.R., Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Avengened Sevenfold, The Fray, and often crappy radio rap (i.e. Nelly, Dem Franchize Boyz, D4L, etc.).
Ah yes. That is totally him. He's not bad on the eyes either, and makes good money, so the next time you're out clubbin, I'm sure he'll buy you a drink. Aaron kinda seems like he's got the hots for the CEO's wife, who is old enough to be his mother. He is constantly bragging about himself while drinking his protein shakes. The CEO's wife is just too nice to notice it. She likes to wear LuLuLemon athletic clothing... she's way into fitness. I noticed today that Aaron was wearing a LuLuLemon shirt with his trucker/sailor hat, baggy jeans and work boots. Let's not forget the outrageous thick, silver chain necklace. Odd combo, but you can totally tell who he was trying to impress. There are so many days where I sit there and wish I had a cell phone so I could snap a picture of Aaron or record a video of him talking and send it to Warren. I know it would make his day.

So, those are my co-workers. The HR lady and the CEO and his wife are relatively normal, so there isn't much to say about them. I like everyone there, and I seem to be getting the hang of things. Sometimes I have my doubts when I over hear someone talking, but so far it's not anything to do with me or my job. Phew!

One last thing... and this is where your sense of humor will need to come in again. Thursday night is the most important night of our week. From the hours of 8 till 11, we are glued to the TV. Ermm... it's not as bad as it just sounded, we hardly ever watch TV except for on Thursdays. One of my favorite shows is Community. Juuuust love it! I also love Parks and Recreation. You should watch them, they are awesome.
I recently had an epiphany... I apparently am attracted to older men. Case and point, Warren is 3 years my elder. I guess that's not really that big of an age difference, but still. Also, apparently have a thing for red heads... aka Ron Weasley. (We may or may not be currently enduring a Harry Potter marathon... Edward who?)
I tell you what, my dear friends if I weren't married, I would totally consider moving to California and looking up these two fellas for sure. And when I say 'looking up' I mean stalking...

Joel McHale and Rob Lowe. Heaven in a biscuit. Is it bad that I am in love with them? Rob Lowe is old enough to be my dad coming in with a whopping 21 years older than I... and if we are going by today's trend with teen pregnancies, I guess Joel McHale could be my dad, too being 17 years older. (Burn!). They are so dreamy.
I guess that's all I have for today. My new found love attractions to bad boys and older men! I'm moving up in the world!

Small update (not that anyone really reads this anyways)

So, my mom was admitted to the hospital today, they are going to keep her there over night. She's been having a lot of pain in her legs for a few months now, and it has been getting progressively worse. She ended up going to the ER because it was just that bad. They did an MRI on her lower half, and discovered some spots that have grown and multiplied all over her pelvis and lower spine, causing the pain and possibly future fractures. Tonight they are going to try to regulate some pain medication for her, and then will be starting another round of radiation later this week.

If you are looking to do a nice thing for someone else or just need a reason to pray, could you include her in your thoughts and prayers? She could sure use it.

Other news, yes I did finally get a job! I'm an office administrator for an HVAC contracting company. So far, so good. More details will come I'm sure.

I am still waiting to get our family pictures we took in Boise but it's taking FOREVER. I know you all are dying to see them as badly as I am... :)

My scentsy party was kind of a let down. My best friends, as I consider them, all came- but some of my other good friends kind of blew me off. They all had reasons for not coming, and I could tell some were valid reasons, but others weren't really legit enough for me to be as understanding as I usually am. Is that bad? I considered the possibility of some people feeling pressured to have to buy something, but I don't really find that a very cogent excuse. We're all adults here, no one is going to judge you and everyone is understanding. It's a little childish to take the easy way out and miss out on making some good friends or having some time away from home. That's just my opinion though.
Just a little back story, I've never really been very awesome at making and keeping friendships with girls. From the time I was in pre-school, I never had girl friends, just guy friends. I can't explain why, other than I sometimes feel like girls are stupid and only care about babies and make up, but that doesn't really bother me all the time. Maybe I'm socially inept or something, I don't know. I've struggled a TON with making friends since moving to Canada. I have a couple really great friends that I cherish a lot, but I've been trying super hard to make more friendships. It really hurt when only 5 out of 11 bothered to come. Warren and I are pretty social people, we think, and always have friends over or throw little parties, and everyone usually comes to those-- but after the other night, I'm thinking it's because they all like Warren better. Maybe I'm being a little over dramatic about it. I know that friendships aren't numbered by the quantity but rather the quality, but nonetheless, it stung... kind of a lot. Maybe for my next parties, I should just invite husbands?
So thanks to those super amazing ladies who came even though you had better places to be, it really meant a lot and I thought it was pretty fun! You guys rock!
Oh, here is a picture of me and my nice who I miss dearly right now... You can also kind of see my new hair. A greasy version of my new hair...

Thanks for reading!

Launch Party!

I am going to be hosting a Launch Party for my Scentsy business on Saturday April 16th. It will basically just introduce people to Scentsy and show them how awesome it is. I'm really excited because so far I have 4 people who will probably be there. Woo hoo! I'm posting here on my blog so that all my friends can be a part of it. As of this very second, it's only open to Canadian orders BUT it will be open to both US and Canadian orders soon. So friends, if you are running low on your Scentsy scents or are needing to update it with some new spring and summer scents, then head on over to my site and check it out and place an order! Here is my site address: www.kelseyfairbanks.scentsy.ca.

Also stay tuned for my trip to Boise and our family photos! My mom's hair is coming in and it's so pretty and SILVER! She is adorable!
