This post might offend people who don't have a sense of humor. Just sayin.
First things first, here are some details of where I work. For my own protection, the name of the company will not be named, just fyi. I work in a 4 (now 5) man/person HVAC Contracting company. I am the office administrator. The HR person is an older lady who is super sweet, the other three... the CEO/President (for protection is name will be "Bob"), the project manager (RJ) and the estimator/person who does a bunch of drawings that look like reverse blue prints (Aaron) (obviously haven't learned the term for what he does yet) are all men. If any of you have any experience in the construction business, you'll notice one thing that separates this industry from most other industries... which is their language, haha! I don't mind the flying f-bombs, in fact I think it's funny. Is that bad?
Working with a team of men is completely opposite of all my previous work experience. I certainly don't miss the drama and gossiping that a team of ovaries, ahem I mean women, bring... but it definitely has it's share of ... other things. RJ has a bunch of tatoos. He is totally hard core and I wouldn't be surprised if he owned a wide range of ATV's, boats, big trucks that would require me to need a ladder, and/or a motorcycle. He is the very definition of why ladies always fall for the bad boy. Can I say that? I totally get that cliche now. You'll see his arms all tattooed and the faint scent of cigarette smoke, but one glance at those baby blues with that killer smile and you are hooked, and totally finding yourself suddenly having the desire to ride a motorcycle. Remember that sense of humor I was talking about...don't let your imaginations run wild, people... I was just making an observation. ;) (He's married, too btw. You sickos).
Aaron is my age. Twenty three. He enjoys going clubbing, drinking protein shakes, working out, and some type of weird fighting that he trains for. He, is what we in the Fairbanks clan like to call, a Dude Bro. Here is how urban dictionary describes a dude bro:
White suburban males, usually 16-25 years of age, hailing from anywhere, USA. Characterized by their love of College football, pickup trucks/SUVs, beer, cut off khaki cargo shorts, light pink polo brand shirts (with collar "popped"), abercrombie & fitch, hollister gear, and trucker hats. Favorite bands include, but are not limited to, O.A.R., Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Avengened Sevenfold, The Fray, and often crappy radio rap (i.e. Nelly, Dem Franchize Boyz, D4L, etc.).
Ah yes. That is totally him. He's not bad on the eyes either, and makes good money, so the next time you're out clubbin, I'm sure he'll buy you a drink. Aaron kinda seems like he's got the hots for the CEO's wife, who is old enough to be his mother. He is constantly bragging about himself while drinking his protein shakes. The CEO's wife is just too nice to notice it. She likes to wear LuLuLemon athletic clothing... she's way into fitness. I noticed today that Aaron was wearing a LuLuLemon shirt with his trucker/sailor hat, baggy jeans and work boots. Let's not forget the outrageous thick, silver chain necklace. Odd combo, but you can totally tell who he was trying to impress. There are so many days where I sit there and wish I had a cell phone so I could snap a picture of Aaron or record a video of him talking and send it to Warren. I know it would make his day.
So, those are my co-workers. The HR lady and the CEO and his wife are relatively normal, so there isn't much to say about them. I like everyone there, and I seem to be getting the hang of things. Sometimes I have my doubts when I over hear someone talking, but so far it's not anything to do with me or my job. Phew!
One last thing... and this is where your sense of humor will need to come in again. Thursday night is the most important night of our week. From the hours of 8 till 11, we are glued to the TV. Ermm... it's not as bad as it just sounded, we hardly ever watch TV except for on Thursdays. One of my favorite shows is Community. Juuuust love it! I also love Parks and Recreation. You should watch them, they are awesome.
I recently had an epiphany... I apparently am attracted to older men. Case and point, Warren is 3 years my elder. I guess that's not really that big of an age difference, but still. Also, apparently have a thing for red heads... aka Ron Weasley. (We may or may not be currently enduring a Harry Potter marathon... Edward
who?)
I tell you what, my dear friends if I weren't married, I would totally consider moving to California and looking up these two fellas
for sure. And when I say 'looking up' I mean stalking...
Joel McHale and Rob Lowe.
Heaven in a biscuit. Is it bad that I am in love with them? Rob Lowe is old enough to be my dad coming in with a whopping 21 years older than I... and if we are going by today's trend with teen pregnancies, I guess Joel McHale could be my dad, too being 17 years older. (Burn!). They are so dreamy.
I guess that's all I have for today. My new found love attractions to bad boys and older men! I'm moving up in the world!
