Our Story

So, I read Erin's blog about her and her husband, and I thought... how cute! I should do the same thing! Of course, she's much better at storytelling than I, so her's is probably way more interesting to read.

First, I just have to tell you this little snippit of information. When I was younger, like 13 or 14... I saw this movie on the Disney Channel called "Lucky 7". It's not really that great of a movie, but I was young and I loved the Disney Channel. It's about this girl who's mother dies at a young age and plans out her life for her, kinda like a map. She basically tells her daughter that she'll marry #7... anyways, she does and all is happy for the people in the movie. Well, my family was moving to a new school district and I was having a hard time with it because I was getting ready to start high school, and I had just been baptized so I was nervous to be uprooted. And, somewhere, I don't know how, something told me that I was going to marry lucky number 7, too. And for some reason that brought me a ton of peace because break ups were super easy for me, especially since I knew I wasn't going to marry them. One less thing to worry about during high school... not everyone thinks of marriage in high school, but for some reason I used to fret about it.

Anyways, here we go

How we met:
I was a freshman at USU and I lived in Rich Hall on campus. I had one apartment full of boys that I really liked to hang out with, they weren't necessarily boys of interest, just good friends. Well 2nd semester started and they had a new neighbor. Yep, Warren! This was his first semester of college, and he had just moved here from Calgary. He had a girlfriend though, and things were pretty serious, so I didn't really get to know him. We did however, go bowling once with a group of people, and Warren was there. They decided to play boys verses girls, something I think it's stupid since boys can throw harder than girls, therefore making it easier for them to win. I'm still bitter about it to this day. Anyways, things got a little competitive and Warren turned into a huge jerk. And him and I kind of got into a little fight. We didn't even know eachother! We never hung out again, and everytime I saw him, ugh... I had to walk away. I hated him. And he hated me.

The next semester, so the start of my sophomore year, we ended up living in the same dorm again, only this time, right across the hall from eachother. Oh boy! But the problem was that he had moved in with my really good friends, so in order to visit them, I had to see Warren, too. My roommates were all weird and against watching TV, and I was a big TV watcher. So when they would tell me that the TV had to be off, I went across the hall to use the boys' TV. And eventually Warren and I started talking. He would occassionally talk to his mom while I was there, and I could hear him talking about how hurt he was from Nadia (his girlfriend from before) and that he was ready to start dating again. A little awkward for me, since I was in the room with thim while he was saying these things to HIS MOM!

Our First Date:
Our boiler had blown up in our dorm building so we all had to move out for a while, while they fixed it. Most of the apartments got moved to the LLC, which is a really nice place to live... but my apartment got moved to Richard's Hall... not so nice... Kinda crappy.
After a stressful day of having to move all our stuff in 10 minutes, a bunch my friends, including Warren and his roommates, went out to dinner at Carl's Jr. I decided that I was going to start making it obvious that I liked him, so I tried really hard to sit next to him and talk to him a lot. So at dinner, this other stupid girl who also liked Warren, who came along, and ate like a pig and it was so gross to even be in the same place as her. She was just gross in so many ways. After that night I got really discouraged, and just decided I didn't care. Then he texted me that night and asked me out on a for real first date, just us. Took me completely by surprise, we decided we would go on Friday, two days away. We walked to Aggie Ice Cream, and he used some of those free scoop tokens. Then we walked back to the LLC, and watched a movie... he tried really hard to put his arm around me, but I could tell what was going on, so I made it even harder by not allowing him the chance. But eventually, he made his move. We kind of started seeing more of eachother and hanging out more often.

Our First Kiss:
I'm not a fan of kissing, because I don't like spit or germs. We were watching Star Wars in my apartment one night, and I fell asleep on his shoulder. He woke me up, and bam! Just like that. I kind of wish he could have waited till I was a bit more oriented and didn't have nasty breath, but oh well.
The next night, believe it for not... we had "the talk" or here in Utah they called it the DTR. I was waiting for a missionary whom I had dated in high school. He was technically number 3, but we broke up and got back together, putting him this time, at number 6. Warren told me that if I really liked him, I needed to tell the missionary. So that's what I did. Ben, who was the missionary, was in England, so I waited up until 3 am when he normally would check his email to tell him the bad news. He usually got on gmail, and we could chat, now, this sounds bad because you aren't supposed to do that with missionaries, but we had only done it twice, so it wasn't a constant thing. I ended up just writing him an email... and he was really nice about it.

Our First Break Up:
We never had one! Isn't that just lucky?! We had a couple of spats, but no deal breakers. I feel so lucky, I hated break ups. They were just so miserable.

The Engagement:
We had actually been talking about this since February, after he told me that he loved me! Aww you should have seen his face when he said it. Priceless. He didn't have any money to buy a ring. And when I say any money, I mean it. I ended up loaning him my rainy day savings, which was $130 that I saved in a jar. I also bought all his groceries for him, and I added him to my cell phone plan so he could talk to his family because he couldn't afford to keep his. This is what happens when you are an international student, and tuition payments kick your butt. On April 9th, I got my wisdom teeth pulled. My mom came down from Boise to be with me, I guess Warren can't handle blood and needles... Plus, it was nice to have someone to wait on me hand and foot and help me take my pills. She left the next day, and Warren was acting weird but I couldn't really focus because of the Lortab. Later that day, he suggested that we go for a walk or go do something and get out. I said I didn't feel like it, and he insisted that we go up to first dam to just walk around. We walked through the paths and he got down on one knee and poped the question with a little $10 ring he got off of Amazon with some of the money I had loaned him. It was really cute, and I still have it at home in my new rings' box.

We wanted to get married on August 8, 2008 but when I called the SLC temple in April, that day alone already had 80 weddings, and his mom thought it was absurd. She suggested the 16th of August, because it was a Saturday, and easier for people traveling... but that's the day my older sister got married, and I didn't feel right about taking her day. So we settled on the 15th. Warren had to go back to Canada for the summer so he could work, and I stayed here in Logan to work instead of going back to Boise. I also had to plan a wedding. By myself. He came down one weekend in June with his brother and we found a place to live, but the rest was up to me. I had to pay rent so much that summer, it was horrible. I went up to Canada the week before we were to get married, and I loved it!

Why I love him:
I don't think there are words to put here to even explain a fraction of why I love him. He's perfect to me. He brings out a side of me I never I had, and as cliche as it sounds, I've become a better person because of his influence. He loves to talk about his mission, and I love hearing about it! It's something that has helped me become closer to Heavenly Father because Warren always has the answers I need. Being a convert, I sometimes don't understand things, and he always knows how to tell me what I need to hear. The Temple is a great place to be. And this may sound odd, but the first time I knew absolutely for sure that this was right (because everyone has their doubts sometimes) was when we were sitting in the Celestial Room right before we were to be sealed. My family wasn't able to be there in the temple with me, but I knew it was okay. And I knew that they were right outside waiting for me, and just as excited for me. He told me that if anything, I was acting as an example to them... they were seeing first hand experience of the blessings that come from the temple. I like the idea that his family has their problems... both of our parents are divorced, and it makes me feel so much better knowing that he knows how I feel sometimes. And, we are the only people I know of that play farting games with eachother... we are definitely made for one another. I'm so happy he's my lucky number 7.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know

Most of the readers we have are people from our ward, who probably don't know much about us. So I decided to post something that tells more about us- plus it's kind of fun to read.

Holy updating to do, Batman!

Gosh, I don't know where to begin. Well for starters, there's not a whole lot to really put here, and since I don't generally have pictures, it's even less cool to look at.

So, I work at the Anniversary Inn... Warren and I decided to stay a few weeks ago, actually more like a month ago... We stayed in the Tipi room! Anyways, well I left my phone in the room when we checked out. I rushed back to get it and lo and behold it was gone! Of course! My brand new phone I had only had for two weeks prior. It was my Christmas Present from Warren. My old phone was such a piece of garbage. I literally cried forever. We finally decided to get a new one... we had to pay again, but I guess it's okay... I'm not bitter. ;)

With the current state of the economy (I could write a whole seperate blog completely dedicated to what I think about the economy, but that's a different story) Warren had decided he needs to get his residency so he can help me pay for things, like rent. And cell phone bills. Plus, it will make his tuition payments much much less. Well, as we're trying to do this, we have figured it out it's just a bunch of red tape. There is literally no way to put in immigration papers. The papers alone cost $30 because of course you can't just print them off the internet, you have to apply to have them sent to you from an agency. THEN the fee that is attached is over 1 grand. Freak people! If we had that kind of money we could just pull out of our pockets, we wouldn't be needing to put in the papers so tha the can get a job. I'm so stressed out from this. And with the school loosing a bunch of funding, Warren lost his scholarship. So now, we have no idea how we're going to pay for his schooling. He's deciding to take a semseter off so he can hopefully get a job and work... but that wont be till next fall. I'm working my butt off to get as many hours as I can so I can pay for everything. It's rough.

For my birthday, I've decided I want money. Not to pay bills with though, to get the starter kit for Scentsy so I can start selling it! I'm really excited, I just don't know if I can do it well. I'm so nervous!

My best friend Heidi came this last weekend. Holy fun! We are the coolest people ever. This trip we decided to go to all the temples we could in Utah. We unfortunately only made it to a few, because traveling was harder than expected, and we had a wedding to go to in Tooele... I have pictures, they will be coming shortly.

Heidi, when she came, brought us our Christmas presents from my parents since we weren't able to see them this year. Warren got an electric razor. He couldn't even help me open the rest of the gifts, instead he ran to the bathroom to shave. Now, he shaves almost everyday, instead of ever week when he's sick of me begging him to shave. I love it!

Heidi also brought a movie with her. This movie is now my favorite movie of all time. It's called House Bunny. I seriously nearly pee'd my pants... and surprisingly, Warren laughed a bit, too.

That's all I've really got, it's mostly me just ranting about the immigration stuff... we decided that when Warren graduates, we're moving to Calgary! I'm so excited!

I'm planning on cutting my hair again... haha. My long beautiful hair, gone! More to come later when I think of things... Man, I'm really bad at this.
