Earlier this week a co-worker of mine mentioned this place called the Leighton House, which is about 30 minutes from our house into the country. It's actually a really small school and art gallery, but the land it is situated on, is a cliff that overlooks the foothills with absolutely breathtaking views of the Canadian Rockies. We had made a date to go to Costco in Okotoks (city south of Calgary about 20 minutes) since it's not near as busy, and because we were already going right passed it, we stopped at Menchie's which is a u-swirl yogurt shop! First one in Alberta! I'm so happy! Costa Vida and now fro-yo! Oh, but before went to Okotoks, we took the scenic drive out to the Leighton House to take some pictures with my new camera. :)
When we got there, first thing I noticed is that it was icy thanks to the melting snow combined with tire tracks. So of course, I wore the wrong boots and fell on my butt. Yes, for real. Once we got inside, the nice lady kind of told us the lay of the land and how to get to the back of the acreage for the views. As we turned to go out the door, she tells us to keep a watchful eye because earlier that week there was a cougar sighting. [If you aren't aware of my fear of wild animals, cougars being #1 on my list... well, now you do.] She kept going on and on, and mentioned that it got quite close. I should have asked what exactly "quite close" was... but the thought didn't cross my mind until I was trekking along in the snow. Obviously, since I'm posting this and you are reading it, we survived. I only saw two hawks. No other wild life. THANK GOODNESS.
So, I had a good Saturday. I'm stoked for next weekends adventure: Lake Louise and Banff! Yeah buddy!

As any photographer, whether professional or novice such as myself will tell you, the photographs don't do it justice.
