Christmas!

For Christmas this year we went to visit my family in Boise, Idaho. Also for Christmas this year, I got a camera! Not only did I get a camera, but I got TWO camera's! So now I have no more excuses for poor blog posts!
Warren got of work early on the 22nd, so we got out of town earlier than expected. We drove 5 hours to Great Falls, Montana.
I had mad online reservations at the Super 8 Motel a few weeks earlier. When we checked in, they told us we couldn't pay in cash because we booked online. Well that's dumb, but whatever. So we get checked in and go up to our room, and it's FREEZING. Warren goes over to the heater and turns it on, as it blows air from outside into our room, and he discovers there's a huge crack in the window, letting all the cold air in! Then I go to the bathroom because I had drank 4 pops in 5 hours, and there is hair all over the bathroom floor. Gross. The next morning I'm picking up our garbage and I find that our trash can hadn't been taken out. There were dirty diapers in it! Then I told Warren to get up and out of that bed because it probably didn't have clean sheets, either. But I didn't complain, we weren't paying very much for the room and we pretty much got what we paid for. Never again Super 8, never again.
Ten hours later, we finally arrived in Boise. Anyways... here are some pictures with my new cameras!

This is my cute Grandma, Lee. She wasn't quite ready for her close up, but I took it anyway!

This is me and my mom, sans make up.

me and my oldest sister, Kassie.

gross look how yellow my teeth are!

McKenzie and I

Can't forget Warren...

Christmas Dinner at my other Grandma's with my dad's side of the family. I don't get to see them often, but I was so glad we got to come!

Game night. Zack had to be on my team since he's still too young for Scrabble.

And of course, home just isn't a visit home without spending the day at my sister's salon...

Christmas morning. Someone was not very happy.

Well the ride to Boise went swimmingly, all 14 hours of it. I was surprised that we hadn't run into any major problems. We always seem to have perfect weather and perfect roads and manage to escape any and all car problems. We are very fortunate. Sometimes I just wish we could have some major issue so we knew what it felt like. Now that I say that, right?! All in all it was a GREAT trip. We had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed staying with my Grandma this time. She is a hoot and a half! But, the ride home wouldn't be complete without something happening... since the whole trip thus far went perfectly...

Is that what it looks like?! Yes. Warren had some bad gas...
HAHAHA no I'm joking! It's just a Milk Dud, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make a good poop joke!
Warren sat on a Milk Dud. And it melted, to his butt, and to the driver seat of my new, clean car. It mostly came out, now what's left is just an oil mark. But I was FURIOUS! It didn't help that he coincidently realized what he had done when we were 10 minutes outside of Idaho Falls... just in time for him to stop at the Army Surplus Store, his favorite store in the world.

Well, that was our lovely Christmas! Stay tuned for all the pictures I'm going to take with my new CAMMMEEEERRRRAAAAA'S!

Kelsey's Most Wanted

Christian Louboutin Shoes
Is there really any surprise here? I'm obsessed with these shoes, this designer in general really.
I think it comes from watching Gossip Girl. These girls have everything.

Chanel Perfume
I'm sure it smells horrible, or like a baby prostitute or something, but I want some just for the sake of having some.

New York Times Subscription
I don't know why, but I think it would be cool if people saw The New York Times sitting on my front step.

A Pearl Necklace
I'm just into peals right now, okay?

Beach Mansion
This would go perfect with my New York Times Newspaper

Beagle
Warren told me, and I quote "Kels, you can have a puppy when you have a baby."
So I'm never getting a puppy. I'm pretty sure I can talk him out of his previously mentioned deal though.

Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint Lotion
I was so excited to get this scent this year... I walked in the store, headed STRAIGHT for the holiday collection (I didn't even get distracted, which is really big of me) and lo and behold, they aren't selling it this year.

Chia Britney
Haha, give me one person who wont laugh at this!

Costa Vida Salad
Tonight I really wanted a salad. Yesterday my best friend posted Cafe Rio on her blog...
and now I want a Costa Vida/Cafe Rio Salad.
I can't taste the difference, can you? I LOOOOVE them both!

Blair Waldorf Hair
For days like today where I just wish my hair would grow out. I'm done playing the waiting game.

Little Big Planet
Have you played this game yet? You haven't?!
Gasp! Get out there to your local Best Buy and play a demo, and then buy me the game! NOW!

Vinyl Record Player
So Warren would quit complaining about not having one just because his best friend has one.
Love you, sweetie!

1 Million Dollars
So I can afford to buy all this stuff!

Gingerbread House Night

Last weekend we had gingerbread house making night with our friends Will and Tania. I was so hungry to eat gingerbread as soon as I opened the house part... note to self don't eat the house, it doesn't taste good.

Well, we were off to a great start, until our bag broke and spilled icing all over, then the walls fell down.

Then we had a good laugh when 2 seconds later, Will and Tania's bag broke too.

They had a nice recovery though, you'd never know the bag broke all over with how good their house looks.

Their finished product. Nice tree!

Our final product.

I want everyone to take a look at this... this is what happens when you tell your husband to do one side of the roof, and I'll do the other side. This is Warren's side.

And this is my side. I don't think I'm going to ask Warren to help anymore.

Altogether it was a good time. BUT MESSY!

And this is me and my adorable-ness, putting up Christmas lights on our fireplace. I promise I don't always look that fat.

Ta da! Too bad they all fell down in the middle of the night and gave me a heart attack.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

These are some pictures I found while looking up the weather for tomorrow... and I thought some of them where really neat. These are all taken by people here in Calgary, of Calgary and the recent snow storms we've had. Enjoy! And if these don't make you feel better about yourself, then... then I don't know what to say.

Downtown Calgary

west side, 2 inches... east side, 5 feet (above)
think of this person next time you have a bad day (below)

shoot, I forgot my... cross country skis?

Well, I hope you enjoyed looking at these as much as I did. Holla from Canada, eh!

Today's blog is brought to you by the letter "B", for 'bump on my wrist'

Before I begin, I'm going to have to back up and explain a bit...
It all started the day after I got married. I was opening wedding gifts when I discovered that I had a weird, hard lump on my left wrist. I immediately had an anxiety attack because I knew it had to be cancer and that I only had 6 months to live. I called my mom (cuz that's what I do when I can't think for myself) and she calmed me down and said it was called a Ganglion Cyst, or 'Bible Bump'. Oh! Of couuuurrrsse, that's what it is... I had no idea what the heck this was, nor had I ever heard of it before. So I jumped online to the Google machine and looked it up. Turns out it's a pretty normal, abnormality. Is there even such a thing? This is an excerpt from Wikipedia:
A ganglion cyst is a swelling that often appears on or around joints and tendons in the hand or foot. The size of the cyst can vary over time. It is most frequently located around the wrist and on the fingers. The term "Bible Bump" comes from a common urban legend that treatment by pounding on the cyst with a Bible or another large book occurred in the past.
Ganglion cysts are idiopathic, but presumably reflect a variation in normal joint or tendon sheath function. Cysts near joints are connected to the joint and the leading theory is that a type of check valve forms that allows fluid out of the joint, but not back in. The cyst contains clear fluid similar to, but thicker than, normal synovial fluid. They are most often found around the wrist joint, especially at the scapho-lunate joint, which accounts for 80% of all ganglion cysts.
I also read that they are more common in women, than men. I also have discovered that mine happens to come from typing on the computer, since it's caused by friction between joints. This is a picture I took today of what it looks like. Just ignore the little scar on my wrist... it's from a cat, named China, that belongs to my father in law... who tried to eat me. (The cat tried to eat me, not my father in law.)

So, smashing a book on it doesn't work, just for the record. So in order to get rid of it and NOT go to the hospital (cuz they bill you more than your life is worth once you leave), is to do home surgery. So that's what we did. We took an exact o-knife, sanitized by Bath and Body Works Sweet Pea Hand Sanitizer so I wouldn't get infections... and dug in! The first time we did this, back in Logan, I screamed bloody murder. I feel bad for my neighbors, Isaac and Debbie who probably heard the whole thing from their bedroom. Warren vowed to never do that again, mostly because he went partially deaf in one ear. But I worked my magic and convinced him to do it again, after it came back a few months later. Oh yeah, it comes back! Rude, I know...

I have since been able to not feel a thing and have developed a pretty awesome battle scar from the 4 times we have drained this little bump. It also doesn't bleed as much as it did the first time. So now it's just a piece of cake! Now, on to the video! BUT WAIT! I have to warn you, if you are one of those people who can't handle blood in the slightest, it's best you didn't watch... there's not a lot of blood, but there is a little, and it looks like there's more than there actually is because of the poor quality of the camera I used. This video was also taken when we first got to Calgary, and we were at Warren's dad's house... I wanted to show them how much of a man I could be. I didn't even CRY!

So bad news, I didn't do my research and I can't upload the video of me popping this cyst because it was taken on a cell phone. I even had help from my friend Alex who couldn't figure it out either. So poo on you cell phone!

In other news, tonight we finally did something that didn't involve staying inside and playing Scrabble. We have been forced to stay inside due to some unwelcomed blizzards and bad Canadian drivers. No offense Tressa. Like I was saying before I went off on a tangent, we went out tonight. We got invited by this couple in our ward that we were barely even acquainted with, they told us it was an "activity" with other young married couples from our ward. So we thought it was a church thing. Wrong. First off... the address was all the way in the north west... I Googled it, like I do for everything, and it was at the very tippy top of the city, and we live pretty close to the bottom. Sorta. It took us an hour and 15 minutes to get there. We should have been going 100 k/h but no, we were going 5 k/h. Once we find the house, the lights are all off, and no one is there. We wait 20 minutes and drive around for a bit, and finally we come back and park, and just as we decided no one was coming and throw the car in reverse to leave, we see someone pull up. People we didn't know. They invited us in and everything... and then this lady started unpacking pots and pans... and it hit me. We were going to be coversed into buying pot and pans. Let me just tell you how much I don't appreciate being invited to something and not being told what it was. Had I known I was going to have to prepare to decline this wonderful set of pots and pans that cost more than my life (it truely did... it was $17 grand... they don't tell you the price on the website because you have order through a consultant) I wouldn't have come. Luckily for us no one else there could afford anything either so we didn't feel so bad. Oh, did I mention that no one showed up until 7:30? We were told to be there at 6:30... But we had fun, and we got free dinner out of it.
--Here are some pictures of these cupcakes I made earlier today. I saw someone else do them once, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Take a look see!
